Your child will be exposed to a variety of new lessons in kindergarten. All of these lessons will provide skills that will enable your child to achieve future academic success. Here at Under the Sun Learning Centers, we focus on offering a well-rounded education that allows our kindergarten students to develop a passion for learning. Our Kindergarten Math Program is designed to start this passion early:
Appealing to Interests and Developmental Needs
Elementary and middle school math classes are typically taught in a quiet environment, requiring students to carefully follow the instructions as they are written up on the board. This approach may work for older children, but it certainly doesn’t appeal to kindergarteners! Our math program focuses on creating a fun, active, and engaging environment that encourages children to seek out opportunities to learn. We use the Scott Foresman-Addison-Wesley Math system to provide educational and entertaining math-related activities for our students.
Making Math Come to Life
Children must learn concepts in order to gain an understanding of advanced mathematics. Encouraging a love of math at an early age helps children get the skills they need to understand these concepts during future academic pursuits. Here at Under the Sun Learning Centers, we engage students by making math come to life through various activities and performances. Students gain a number of skills from these activities, including matching, sorting, making graphs, and identifying patterns and sequences.
Turning Math into a Family Affair
One of the best ways to help your child make the most of his or her education is to keep the learning going even at home. You can encourage your child’s passion for math by looking through the Math Soup Magazines that can be found in every chapter of students’ books. Working together on math at home will allow your child to have an easier time with math in school.
